TO MY LITTLE MONKEYS,

You both are growing up so fast. As much as I want to tell you everything you need to know, there are some lessons in life you must learn through experience. Here are some of them:

I can not prevent a broken heart, for in doing so, I would prevent you from experiencing love.
I can not prevent a scraped knee, for in doing so, I would prevent you from climbing new heights.
I can not prevent an uncomfortable silence, for in doing so, I would prevent you from seeing the danger of comfort.
I can not prevent a wounded ego, for in doing so, I would prevent you from leading with humility.
I can not prevent fear of the unknown, for in doing so, I would prevent you from bravely charging into your fears.
I can not prevent an embarrassing situation, for in doing so, I would prevent you from learning to laugh at yourself.
I can not prevent every hurtful comment, for in doing so, I would prevent you from overcoming what others says.
I can not prevent every wrong turn, for in doing so, I would prevent you from discovering a better way.
I can not prevent times of doubt, for in doing so, I would prevent you from unlocking what it means to have faith.
I can not prevent an awkward moment, for in doing so, I would prevent you from realizing you are wonderfully, and utterly, human.

And never forget: you have parents who are here for you when life happens. Because it will. But love happens, too. And I love you both more than words. I’m honored to be your father.

Love you more,

Dad
